73-10 victory in Virginia for the U18 Girls

After the mist had lifted, a gorgeous Autumn day was waiting for our u18 girls away to Virginia.
Virginia were quick to capitalise on some good rucking from their forwards early in the first few minutes with an unconverted try in the first few minutes
Our girls soon responded with some tidy handling in the backs for Lucy to score under posts, converted by Cora Balfour.
From the restart Virginia pressed on the 5 yard line, some excellent defending gave Skins the break and the girls were soon competing in the opposition 22 again.
The pressure paid off with Sophie Barrett driving over for our second try converted by Cora to bring us up to 14-5.
Some quick thinking by Lauren with a tap penalty after the restart put India away from the 22 yard line for a score under the posts duly converted again 21-5.
Some great play up field from Sophie Barrett from restart with quick ball out of the ruck allowed Moya hill to break through tackles to score converted by Cora to bring the score line to 28-5.
A persistent forwards showing from Virginia allowed them to score under the posts in response for 28-10 with a third of the match to play.
After the restart and with Moya making a surging run through the Virginia defence to off load to Sophie Meeke who finished with aplomb from own 10 yd line. Converted 35-10
From the restart Lauren broke from an attacking ruck to cross the line for a score line of 40-10 going into the break.
The coaching feedback paid off at the break as a tiring Virginia side couldn’t fend off good rucking in midfield and slick backs play with Lucy off-loading for Sophie Meeke to score under posts! Converted 47-10
After the restart Sophie Meeke repaid the compliment to Lucy who had supported her for the length of the park for Lucy to score, converted again by Cora for 54-10.
Intelligent kicking from Cora then led to Lauren following the chase by ripping the ball from the opposition and scoring herself with a run in from the 22.
This was closely followed up by another Intelligent kick from Cora for Sophie Meeke to back herself with a chase, kick on and collect leaving Cora with another conversion for 68-10.
Idina, Moya and India combined nicely to bring the match to close 73-10.
A good solid performance by everyone well done and credit to our hosts Virginia who never gave up and put the girls under pressure at times.
