10-29 away victory for Enniskillen under-16 boys

Omagh U16 10
Enniskillen U16 29

With a growing confidence a much depleted squad due to injuries and the seasonal bug, Skins travelled to Omagh with the bare 15 in a forward dominated squad. Skins received the ball and went on the attack but were soon knocked back with their domination of the ruck deemed to be going off their feet, Omagh shooting for goal to take a 3 point lead. Skins now went on the offensive keeping Omagh in their own 22 before forcing them to hold on at the ruck, the skins line out, which has started to click recently, secured ball and a series of strong carries saw Caoilte Farry in at the corner for a try, which he duly converted.
Skins received the restart opting to kick back to Omagh who went to run it forward, and somehow the smallest man on the field managed to get a high tackle in front of the referee, prompting a yellow card for Sam Magowan. Skins defended well but Omagh then changed to attack, giving Morgan Leonard the prop playing on the wing a torrid time. As the clock ticked it looked like skins might get away with the shortage of numbers but despite best efforts Omagh scored under the posts for a converted try.
Shortly afterwards Omagh used a similar attack but skins stopped them with more determined defence, Ciaran McLaughlin however, was deemed to have used a block and he took Sam's place in the sin bin. Skins forced Omagh back and secured ball but the shortage of numbers made it difficult. Slow, hard yards saw the ball worked down the pitch as 7 minutes ticked down from the sin bin. A penalty from the Omagh defence saw skins go for the corner and force the ball to the line with Caoilte Farry on hand to finish, just wide with the conversion at half time.
Having played half the first half with only 14 men skins went out to show what they could do in the second half. James Elliot went out onto the wing and Morgan Leonard took over propping duties. Skins now started to flow and strong carries from both backs and forwards kept Omagh under pressure. As the ball got close to the line Caoilte Farry bust over to finish a great team try, just wide with the conversion. Skins now started to dominate and a great individual break from the 22 saw James Ross just lose the ball as he almost got on the scoreboard, but Skins were now in charge at the line out and the scrum. Soon they were deep in the Omagh half yet again and James making no mistake this time to cross the line. Caoilte unfortunately just wide with the conversion.
Skins worked through the phases well now and defended when they had to as Omagh players started to gather injuries, breaking up play in the second half. An individual dribble to the line saw Ethan Daley’s effort touched down by John Armstrong, only to be ruled out for pushing. Skins were back at it again but had a held up effort at the scrum, only to then get pinged for an early push. Omagh kicked clear but a front move saw Ryan Beattie charge for the line and an offload took Alfie cooper close, Caoilte Farry there to finish once again and convert. Omagh pushed the restart into skins half and Farry saw yellow for a badly timed intercept. Skins defended for the last few minutes eventually forcing a knock on to finish the game. Whilst a few are named this was a massive team effort with props having to play on the wing and full back, such is the development of this squad that they were able to close out this game for a well earned win.
