Grosvenor 3rds 24 Enniskillen 3rds 41
A youthful Enniskillen 3rd team made the journey to Belfast on Saturday gone to play their final league match of the season.
Knowing the league title was already secured, Skins still wanted to sign out on a high for the season.
The game as the score line suggests was a very open match. Both sides were keen to play a high tempo and expansive game despite the stiff breeze going across the pitch. Skins forwards were dominating all facets of the set piece, front row of Breen, Andy Dane and Beatty pushed their opponents off the ball at every single scrum, locks Barrett and Allan dominated the lineout and the back row of Nolan, Cadden and Willis supported well and tackled stoutly any time they were asked.
Half backs McConkey and Wilkinson marshalled the pack well, with centres Jamie Gibson and Henderson gaining good ground at any given chance. Skins back 3 of Cunningham, Harry Dane and Angus Keys were tested constantly under the high ball, but generally acquitted themselves well in challenging conditions with the breeze.
For the record Skins scored 7 tries on the day. Wilkinson and Beatty both were rewarded for a fine season of rugby with a brace each, the other tries coming from Henderson, Keys and McConkey. Willis converted 3 of the tries. Despite the match being brought to a close 15 minutes early, Skins 3rds finished of the season with a strong performance. Also importantly there were several young players making their senior debut for the club.
After the match captain Adam Breen was awarded with the Ravenhill cup from the Ulster Branch, a fitting reward for the team and also manager Trevor Whittaker for a season of good and enjoyable rugby.
