Match Report

Portadown U16    44
Enniskillen U16    0

Enniskillen U16 boys travelled to Portadown last Saturday to face a side who have league and cup aspirations. This was the first wintry morning of the season and, despite the loud music on the way up, Skins started slowly, conceding two quick unconverted tries to go 10 nil behind. Skins played small phases of good rugby but dropped off at vital stages and conceded a further 3 tries before the half. They started the second half strongly and were somewhat aggrieved at a knock on that gave possession back to portadown who scored a converted try. A further score saw the match end as a contest, however, the young skins wanted a reward for their efforts on the day and pushed hard to cross the whitewash but were unlucky to be held out by a solid side. A few unsavoury incidents saw the ref blow the match up early. Whilst probably one of the poorer  performances of the season there were glimpses of what the side are capable of and positives such as the return of Oisin McPhillips. A big effort will be required from the young side now as they prepare for derby matches against Cavan and Omagh before starting their cup campaigns.
