||Enniskillen 2nd XV
Enniskillen 2nd XV showed impressive character at the weekend to come from behind to beat hosts Ballynahinch 5th XV 27-10 and grab 3rd position in the league.
Enniskillen found themselves 10 points down after 10 minutes but that was to be the home side’s final score in the match.
Enniskillen settled into their own rhythm mixing forward play with hard attacking runs coming from the backline, resulting in a penalty in front of the opposition's posts with Chris Daley adding the points.
From the restart Enniskillen took the game to Ballynahinch with vigour and the home side were soon penalised 15 metres from their own line when a quick tap and go allowed Ross Duncan to touch down in the corner. Again Daley added the points.
With the contest tied Ballynahinch upped their game and attacked the Enniskillen line but Skins were on form defensively and were able to steal the ball and make their way back to the opposition's 22. Then from a clinical set play and an accurate kick along the ground, former Ballynahinch player Paul Burns touched down under the posts. With the score 17-10 at half time Enniskillen were determined to build upon their first half performance and were rewarded with another converted try from Duncan and a further converted penalty opportunity.
The last 20 minutes were well fought by both sides with Ballynahinch playing their best rugby of the match but were unable to wear down Enniskillen's impenetrable defence. Their frustration was evident and an eventual sin binning reduced them to 14 players for the last few minutes. A brilliant performance from the team ensured the points went back to Mullaghmeen.
Gary Thornton must receive appreciation for stepping in last minute to play for the first time at tight head prop.
The 2nd XVs next match is against local rivals Clogher Valley 2nd XV in the cup.
