Grovesnor 3rd XV 7 Enniskillen 3rd XV 32
Enniskillen 3XV resumed winning ways with a hard fought yet comfortable and dominant display on Saturday to keep their chances of retaining their Ravenhill cup alive. The home side appeared to find their feet on the beach like pitch conditions first but once the Enniskillen pack got on top in the battle up front there only looked to be one winner in this contest.
Wilkinson was controlling territory with some fine kicks and with one of these brought the game into the Grosvenor 22. From the resulting line out Wright found the impressive debutant Reece Barrett, the Skins powerful rolling maul trundled over the white wash from 20 yards with Wright getting to Dot the ball down.
Not long after a loose kick through into the home 22 became a race between Mulholland and the Home full back which Mulholland won to increase the visiting teams advantage. Neither score was converted to leave Skins 10-0 up at the break.
The match resumed as did Skins physical dominance. The contest was put to bed after 4 minutes into the second half. A good counter attack by debutant full back Jonny Irvine resulted in Duncan getting the touchdown. Shortly after wing forward Barrett got his name on the scoresheet after clever play by another debutant Angus Keys at scrum half.
The Grovesnor heads were now down and Skins scored another 2 tries from experienced back rower Cadden, and Barrett got his second try of the game with some excellent support play. Robust lock Willis done his best John Eales impression, converting one of the tries on a surface where getting footing was difficult.
Grovesnor to their credit came back into the game and got minor consolation at the end with the final try of the game.
This was a fine Enniskillen performance, experienced players ground the opposition down leaving gaps for impressive debutants Barrett, Keys and Irvine to shine.
Focus now turns to the 24th of March when Skins host Dromore 3rd XV in the semi final of the McCambley cup. All support will be gladly appreciated.
All of the players in the 3rd XV squad want to wish their Director of Rugby Trevor Whittaker a happy 40th birthday.
