Virginia Ladies 0
Enniskillen Ladies 40

Last Sunday, Enniskillen Ladies were hosted by Virginia. Things finally clicked for the Skins girls and they made their presence known in the Ulster Division One League with a superb 40-0 win away from home. Enniskillen took the upper hand early on with powerful runs from forwards Ashling Maguire and Sarah Teague, each bursting through tackles and exploiting the speed within the Skins back line. Key speedster Etna Flanagan showed her pace when she sprinted over the try line to score a try within the first two minutes, which was converted by Ellie Rix. Skins relentless pressure caused numerous problems for Virginia, where in open play Skins were powerful, making piercing runs through Virginia’s defence. Forward Eden Whiteside used her strength to power through where she delivered an off-load pass to Harriet Parke who released Flanagan again to put her in for her second try of the match. This was converted by Rix to make the score line 13-0. After the restart, Virginia were awarded a scrum and here they proved that they were a force to be reckoned with. The ball was then kicked by Virginia’s centre into the arms of Flanagan at the half way line who gathered the ball calmly and sprinted with ease up the pitch to score her third try under the posts. This again was converted. Ellie Ingram made use of her weaving runs as she scattered Virginia’s defence, making a number of gaps for her team mates. Skins became complacent with points on the board and this resulted in handling errors, however, the ladies regained their focus and were dominating once again. Ashling Maguire stealing the ball back on the Skins try line allowed the ball to be shipped out through the hands to Flanagan to score another well-deserved try. Converted again. Not long after the restart, Skins kept the possession of the ball with their efficient use of passing and awareness of space available. The ball was passed through the line where a perfect pass from Eimear Corrigan unleashed the pace of Flanagan once again to score yet another try. Coverted. Huge hits were being made by forwards Jillian Boylan and Captain Clare Brogan, slowing down the Virginia attack allowing the Skins girls time to reset their defensive line. Maguire was making herself a nuisance for the Virginia Pack, counter-rucking and stealing the ball at numerous breakdowns. Virginia showed good strength as they battled their way towards the Skins try line, however, the Skins defence were aware of the danger and quickly closed down their attacks. Sarah Teague showed great strength as she broke through Virginia’s defence and made her way towards the try line. Harriet Parke was hot on her heels ready to receive the off- load pass which allowed her to get under the posts to further stretch Enniskillen’s lead. Rix narrowly missed the final conversion to make the final result 40-0. Skins aim to take that performance into their next league game where they will host Virginia at Mullaghmeen in two weeks time.
