Limavady 2XV 5
Enniskillen 2nd XV hosted their Limavady counterparts last Saturday in what was a wholly dominant affair for a Skins side mixed with experienced veterans and youthful potential, the home side racking up a 35-5 scoreline.
Scrums went well throughout with the Breen, Armstrong and Irvine front row making it extremely difficult for Limavady to retain any possession; the line out functioned well for the visitors and was the only platform providing any ball, contributing to a first half score that was to be their only points of the game.
Some good ball carrying early on from captain Richard Willis and Eric Elliott made good progress deep into Limavady’s half and led to hooker Rea Armstrong crossing the line. Jamie Gibson at scrum half worked well with Hurst at out-half and was a constant threat around the fringes, picking up a try himself from a dart around the side of the ruck.
Things opened up in the second half with the scrum providing a good platform for David Taylor to pick up a try with a charge from the back. Chris Daley crossed the line shortly afterwards and calmly touched down under the posts following well worked hands out the back line. Another excellently worked score came after a Cathal McGarry linebreak and pass to Chris Dickie who threw a looped pass to Gareth Donaldson on the wing for try. The 2nd XV now have a week off before travelling away to Portadown 3rd XV. The 3rd XV travel to Letterkenny 2nd XV this weekend hoping to carry on from their win away to Finn Valley.
