Match Report

Enniskillen 2nd xv    36
City of Derry 3rd xv   10

Enniskillen 2nd XV came back from a frustrating narrow defeat the previous week to snatch a resounding 36-10 win over City of Derry 3rd XV on Saturday past in chilly conditions at Mullaghmeen. The forward pack dominated the contact area on the day with Alan Ferguson leading from the front and supported well by the in form second row pairing of Eric Elliott and Gary Thornton, Thornton adding another try to his tally on the day. The back row had a nice balance of youth and experience with flankers Richard Grey and Andrew Renfrew putting in an industrious shift around the park, and Richard Willis making constant ground at number eight. Chris Fox at scrum half distributed ball well in difficult conditions and picked up a try from close range after a galloping run from Thornton. Scott Burrell conducted proceedings well at out half with Paul Burns outside him at 12 marshalling the defence expertly all day. A silky break through the Derry defence from Burrell put winger Chris Henry away for a score. The 2nd XV head to Portadown this weekend and will be keen to use their good form to avenge the home defeat suffered back in September.
