A message of thanks from the club president to supporters, sponsors and all contributors this Monday past for the Town's Cup final, a fantastic day for the club which saw the 1st XV push a highly favoured Bangor side to a close 31-25 finish.
"I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank all the travelling support for the 1XV on Easter Monday's Powerade Towns Cup Final against Q1 Champions, Millar McCall Wylie Junior Cup Champions and now holders of The Towns Cup, Bangor RFC. Club Captain Alan Wilkinson led out the 1XV onto the hallowed turf at The Kingspan Stadium on Easter Monday. A spirited fight back saw the 1XV push Bangor all the way to the final whistle loosing narrowly 31 25. The game was a positive advertisement for Junior Rugby and shows how far this team has came on over the season. I know from speaking to the players they were truly humbled by the vocal support as they ran out onto the pitch followed by renditions of "Fare thee well Enniskillen" echoing around The Kingspan Stadium!!
The 1XV now have 4 league games left and still have an outside chance to get into the playoff for promotion into Q1 next season. It will be a stern test for the players as we need to ensure that all games are to be played by Tuesday 12 April and a playoff on 16 April if we manage to secure a top 2 spot! All support is welcome for the remaining games which are as follows;
02 April - Academy (H) KO 2:30 pm 05 April - Coleraine (H) KO 8:00 pm 09 April - Randalstown (A) KO 2:30 pm 12 April - Carrick (H) KO 8:00 pm
Not to be outdone by the 1XV it is great to see the 2XV heading to The Kingspan Stadium 16 April to compete in the Foster Cup Final against Malone. 2XV Captain Richard Willis has pulled together a strong squad this season and will be looking to bring some silverware back to the Club. I would call for all available support to make the journey up to Belfast and cheer them on.
Continued thanks to the main Club Sponsor Currency Extra and to The Enniskillen Hotel and Pats Bar for their kind hospitality on Easter Monday. To the rest of the sponsors within the Club stretching from the Mini Section through the Boys and Girls Youth Section and Senior Ladies Section your support to the Club is greatly appreciated. The future of Enniskillen RFC is strong and all players across the club and supporters should feel proud -the future is after all maroon!!"
